Hypnosis is a natural state of awareness that gives one an extraordinary feeling of mental, physical and emotional relaxation. The subconscoius mind, in this relaxed state becomes very receptive to accepting positive, beneficial suggestions. These suggestions are given directly to the subcconscious mind, bypassing the critical, conscious signals that contribute towards continued, undesired behaviour such as smoking, overeating, fears, etc.
Hypnosis is a safe, effective modality that helps reprogram the computer-like subconscious mind to make incredible changes that empowers one to be the master of their conscious mind and behavior.
Hypnosis feels very much like a deep daydream. In hypnosis, the mind is active; thoughts and actions are under control; every sound in the room is heard; one can answer questions; and remember everything that is said. No two people experience hypnosis in exactly the same way, but all agree that being in hypnosis is a very pleasant experience.
There are many misconceptions about hypnosis. The most common misconception is that hypnosis is sleep. This is far from the truth. Although the word "sleep" is frequently used during the induction process - Hypnosis IS NOT sleep. In Hypnosis, unlike sleep, one hears and responds to verbal instructions and suggestions.
Another common misconception is that the hypnotized person will lose control and be under the hypnotist's "spell." People are not dominated by the will of the hypnotist but are in full control of themselves, fully aware of their environment, and completely capable of making decisions at all times. Therefore, a hypnotized person would simply reject doing it, and in some cases he will emerge from hypnosis. Nor will anyone reveal any secrets, public or private, during hypnosis.
Finally, the misconception of not waking up. Hypnosis is not a sleep state. The hypnotized person is awake and alert and can hear everything around them. Whenever you wish to terminate the hypnotic state you may. Hypnosis cannot be sustained without dialogue so one of two things will happen. You will either fall into a natural sleep and wake up in a few minutes or you will come out of hypnosis when you no longer hear the hypnotist's voice.
